Narva Plant Visit

Extra opportunity for the 2017 edition: Join us for the Narva Power Plant visit to be organized on April 5 for great insights and advances!

Narva Power Plants are the largest oil shale fired power plants around the globe with total installed generation capacity of 2380 MW. Eesti Energia, operators of the world’s largest oil shale industry will present the production process of oil shale ash (OSA) and information about the quality of the products, storage as well as transportation possibilities within the visit.

Eesti Energia operates in Baltic and Nordic electricity and gas markets as well as in global liquid fuel market.

Oil shale has been utilized for 100 years in Estonia to produce electricity, heat and oil. Narva Power Plants have a district heat capacity 484 MW and annual oil shale consumption 12 mil. tons. Due to the oil shale high content of mineral matter around 6 mil. tons of oil shale ash (OSA) are produced annually during oil shale combustion at Narva Power Plants. Due to its properties the use of OSA as efficient and low-cost additive could be considered as alternative to the society.
